The Normalcy Fallacy

“Am I normal?!” is often the first question asked when someone is sitting down in front of their therapist. The question really is who gets to decide what normal is? YOU DO! In her more than twenty – five years in the mental health field Dr. Jennifer Kos has had the opportunity to truly explore the normal, the abnormal and what the ideal definition of both should truly be.

Have you ever questioned if you, your partner, your experience is really normal or not? Come take a glimpse inside an actual therapist’s office and hear the stories, review the resources and tools, answer her questions, and see if YOU are normal… the answer may surprise you.

Be prepared to be challenged, inspired, amused, and most importantly given the room to understand what normalcy should be and whether you really are as abnormal as you think you are… Is it healthy, safe, and loving?

These are the keys that unlock the question. Jennifer L. Kos, PsyD has been in the mental health field as a student, practitioner, and therapy client herself since 1992. This work is a collection of her observations, trusted resources, and challenging questions that she sets in front of her clients and patients to get to the heart of the Normalcy Fallacy and find true self-awareness, acceptance, and love.
